Dear imprecisionists,
A Training School on Uncertainty in Engineering will take place from 2 to 6 July 2018 at
Durham University (Durham, UK). This is one of the activities in the EU-funded UTOPIAE
network. For more information about the UTOPIAE ETN see http://utopiae.eu/
There will be 10 2-hour lecture sessions, introducing key topics such as Bayesian statistics,
imprecise probability, reliability and simulation, followed by more advanced topics towards
applications. There are also several further activities, including key skills sessions on aspects
of publishing and academic careers. Details are available on
http://www.maths.dur.ac.uk/stats/utopiae/dur2018/index.html
This school is open to everybody, the main target audience are PhD students and other
career-young researchers. We will assume knowledge of mathematics as normally
attained in a UK undergraduate degree in Maths, Engineering or related topic.
We have managed to keep fees low, at 80 GBP including refreshments and lunches.
Further information, including accommodation options, are available from the webpage
above. The deadline for registration is 15 June.
Please forward this announcement to people who may be interested to participate, in
particular career-young researchers. If you have any questions please let me know.
