9 Independent Research Group Leaders in the Cyber Valley Initiative

Cyber Valley (http://cyber-valley.de/en) is a new center for AI 
research, bringing together partners from science and industry to create 
a world-leading hub for research in intelligent systems and to establish 
an ecosystem for startups in the field of artificial intelligence.

Successful candidates should have an outstanding international 
early-career track record in AI research, including but not limited to:
- Machine Learning
- Perception & Computer Vision
- Autonomous Robotics
- Frameworks and Architectures for Intelligent Systems
- Small-scale Robotics
- Cybernetics

Each of these research-focused positions will lead a new Cyber Valley 
Research Group located either at the Max Planck Institute for 
Intelligent Systems, at the University of Stuttgart, or at the 
University of T��bingen as part of the Cyber Valley initiative 
Baden-W��rttemberg. The establishment of a competitive basic research 
program is expected. The research groups are expected to engage actively 
with the existing research environment, including the Cyber Valley 
partners. The research groups will be able to draw on infrastructure and 
a stimulating environment for successful company startups in the area of 
artificial intelligence.

All applications will be considered for two different types of positions 
that offer scientists an excellent opportunity for career advancement. 
During the selection process, depending on the career stage of the 
applicant, the most suitable position will be identified in agreement 
with the successful candidates.

*Cyber Valley Research Group Leaders at the Max Planck Institute for 
Intelligent Systems:*
The group leader positions are at W2 level (roughly equivalent to 
assistant/associate professor level). The successful applicants are 
provided considerable funds for personnel, equipment and running costs 
that enable the group leaders to flexibly engage in their independent 
research agenda. The Max Planck Research Groups are limited to five 
years, but may be extended.

*Cyber Valley Research Group Leaders at the University of Stuttgart and 
at the University of T��bingen:*
The funding includes a group leader position (TV-L E14), PhD positions 
as well as startup and running budgets for up to four years. The groups 
will be embedded into the appropriate faculty at the University of 
Stuttgart or the Department of Computer Science in the Faculty of 
Science of the University of T��bingen, respectively, and benefit from 
the support structures.
