Dear SIPTA friends,
An exciting PhD opportunity is available at Durham, which directly seeks to develop and apply methods from imprecise probability to applications in offshore transmission systems asset management under severe uncertainty. The project is a collaboration between the School of Engineering & Computing Sciences, and the Department Mathematical Sciences, at Durham University, UK. It also involves active collaboration and support from the Offshore Renewable Energy (ORE) Catapult (a UK-based Industrial Research body), with facilities across the UK in Blyth, Glasgow and Fife. The funding includes fees at the UK/EU rates plus a monthly stipend (£1.2k per month) as well as additional funding for travel and consumables. Non-EU students have to provide the difference between international and UK/EU fees which is currently around £18k per year.
More information about the project, requirements, and the application process can be found here:

Please note that the closing date for applications is 27th January 2017.
Best wishes, Matthias
