Igor Gorban� was a specialist in interval-valued probabilities, in particular he showed that such probabilities better describe many real-life phenomena that the usual number-valued probabilities. These results are described in his numerous books and papers, including his 2016 Springer book The Statistical Stability Phenomenon

The staff of the Institute of Problems of Mathematical Machines and Systems of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine with deep regret informs you that our colleague in the field of hydroacoustics, radars, signal processing, mathematical statistics and probability theory, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor Gorban Igor Ilyich passed away on February 13, 2018.
