🚀 Faculty opportunity in Critical Infrastructure Resilience and Optimization
We open a Junior Professorship (Chaire de Professeur Junior, CPJ) at CentraleSupélec - Paris-Saclay University Research Center. After 5 years and a positive final evaluation, the position holder is promoted to a permanent full professor position.
Deadline for application: September 21.

The research is expected to address resilience issues in large-scale systems, although prior experience with this specific application domain is not a prerequisite. During the recruitment process, we will primarily emphasize methodological expertise in one or more of the following areas:
- Risk-averse optimization: robust, stochastic, and distributionally robust optimization formulations for managing extreme events, cascading failures, and deep uncertainty in large-scale networks.
- Learning and optimization: data-driven models, analytics ranging from predictive to prescriptive, and hybrid approaches combining machine learning with exact optimization methods for decision-making in dynamic environments.
- Scalable algorithm design: decomposition techniques, distributed algorithms, and sequential decision-making methods to address the combinatorial complexity of large-scale socio-technical systems.
- Explainable prescriptive analytics: counterfactual analysis, sensitivity analysis, and explainable AI to ensure transparent, reliable, and practically adoptable decision-support tools.
The successful candidate will join the Laboratoire de Génie Industriel (Industrial Engineering Laboratory) at CentraleSupélec, within the R3 (Risk, Resilience and Reliability) research team. The position will also include teaching in English within CentraleSupélec's Industrial Engineering and Operations Department.
The package is expected to include funding to support the development of the research activity (PhD student and additional resources).
Ideal candidates will have an experience in leading research projects, supervising students, and developing international collaborations will be considered a strong asset. The position is well suited for outstanding postdoctoral researchers or faculty members at an early stage of their independent career who have the ambition to build an internationally visible research program.
