For the previous event, see http://grammars.grlmc.com/SSTiC2013/ SSTiC 2014 will be a research training event mainly addressed to PhD students and PhD holders in the first steps of their academic career. It intends to update them about the most recent developments in the diverse branches of computer science and its neighbouring areas. To that purpose, renowned scholars will lecture and will be available for interaction with the audience. SSTiC 2014 will cover the whole spectrum of computer science through 6 keynote lectures and 24 six-hour courses dealing with some of the most lively topics in the field. The organizers share the idea that outstanding speakers will really attract the brightest students. ADDRESSED TO: Graduate students from around the world. There are no formal pre-requisites in terms of the academic degree the attendee must hold. However, since there will be several levels among the courses, reference may be made to specific knowledge background in the description of some of them. SSTiC 2014 is also appropriate for more senior people who want to keep themselves updated on developments in their own field or in other branches of computer science. They will surely find it fruitful to listen and discuss with scholars who are main references in computing nowadays. Dear Friends, The International Journal of Approximate Reasoning (IJAR), published by Elsevier http://www.journals.elsevier.com/international-journal-of-approximate-reaso… is planning a special issue on Modeling Dependence in Econometrics. We expect to publish up to 10 papers, each about 8-12 pages in IJAR format. All papers will be peer-refereed. About half of the issue will be filled with extended versions of selected papers presented at a recent International Conference on Modeling Dependence in Econometrics (Chiang Mai, Thailand, January 8-10, 2014). Invitations are being sent to the authors of the invited papers; these papers will also be peer-refereed. In addition, about half of the issue is open for submissions, including submission by authors who did not participate in the conference. Papers need to be submitted to IJAR by June 1, 2014. The journal website has detailed instructions about the journal's scope and instructions on how to submit papers. When submitting a paper, please do not forget to indicate that the submitted papers are for the special issue of Dependence in Econometrics. We expect to notify the authors by September 1, 2014. The theme of the conference in January 2015 is "Econometrics of Risk". The conference also welcomes all disciplines in quantitative economics. All papers submitted in this first round will be considered for the publication in the conference proceedings published by Springer Verlag (indexed in SCOPUS). The authors must revise the papers according to comments from the referees and re-submit the paper for the final decision of the Scientific Committee.
