Due to several requests, ISIPTA '17 is extending the paper submission deadline to Friday, March 3, 2017. ::: CALL FOR PAPERS ::: http://isipta.idsia.ch The Tenth International Symposium on Imprecise Probability: Theories and Applications (ISIPTA '17). The ISIPTA conference is the primary international forum about theory and applications of imprecise probability. Imprecise probability is a generic term for the many mathematical and statistical models and methods, allowing us to measure chance or uncertainty without the restriction of sharp probabilities. The symposium is open to contributions on all aspects of imprecise probability. ISIPTA '17 will be co-located with ECSQARU 2017, the Fourteenth European Conference on Symbolic and Quantitative Approaches to Reasoning with Uncertainty. 11th International Conference on Scalable Uncertainty Management (SUM 2017) Call for papers For updated information, please visit the conference web page at: http://idbis.ugr.es/sum2017/ The 11th International Conference on Scalable Uncertainty Management (SUM) will be held in Granada, Spain on October 4-6, 2017. The conference will bring together researchers who are working with imperfect information in fields such as artificial intelligence, databases, data mining, information retrieval, and risk analysis with the aim of fostering collaboration and cross-fertilization of ideas from different communities. An originality of SUM is that it gives a large space to tutorials about a large range of topics related to uncertainty management. Each tutorial provides a 45 minute survey of one of the research areas in the scope of the conference. ******************** Topics of Interest ******************** We solicit papers on the management of large amounts or complex kinds of uncertain, incomplete, or inconsistent information. Authors of an accepted long or short paper will be expected to sign copyright release forms, and one author is expected to give a presentation at the conference. Authors of accepted abstracts will be expected to present their work during the conference, but the extended abstracts will not be published in the LNCS/LNAI proceedings (they will be made available in a separate booklet). Regular research papers should be at most 14 pages (including references, figures and tables). Short papers should be at most 7 pages. Extended abstracts should be at most 2 pages and should reference the originally published work. Submissions must be formatted according to Springer's guidelines for LNCS authors, which can be found at http://www.springer.de/comp/lncs/authors.html. Cheers, Matthias --- Research Associate in Statistical Uncertainty Quantification for Energy Systems Modelling Job Title : Research Associate Grade 7 (£32,004) Closing date for applications: midday on 20-Feb-2017 The Department of Mathematical Sciences at Durham University, UK invites applications for a postdoctoral position, to begin ideally by end April 2017, and for a 30 month period in the first instance. The post-holder will conduct research in statistical methodology related to the projects ‘Uncertainty analysis of hierarchical energy systems models: Models versus real energy systems’ (http://gow.epsrc.ac.uk/NGBOViewGrant.aspx?GrantRef=EP/K03832X/1) and ‘Centre for Energy Systems Integration’ (CESI, http://gow.epsrc.ac.uk/NGBOViewGrant.aspx?GrantRef=EP/P001173/1) funded by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council. The research will use state-of-the-art statistical methodology for uncertainty analysis in a range of complex computer simulators representing energy economics and engineering systems. There will be a particular emphasis on developing new methodology for analysing the propagation of uncertainty between linked models. Exemplars will be drawn primarily from the CESI project – the concept of energy systems integration is coordination of operation and planning of different levels (e.g. national and local) of the energy system, and of the systems for different energy carriers (gas ,electricity, heat etc.) There will be substantial opportunities for collaboration with other academic disciplines and industrial partners within the CESI project. This is a 30 month fixed term, externally funded post, formed on the basis of appointment at the bottom of Grade 7 (£31,656) and provided that the successful candidate can commence the role by the end of April 2017. In the event that the appointment is made at a higher salary point, or the start date is later, then the term of the appointment will reduce in length in accordance with the available funding.
