The ICCS conferences evolved from seven annual workshops on conceptual graphs, starting with an informal gathering hosted by John F. Sowa in 1986. Recently, graph-based knowledge representation and reasoning (KRR) paradigms have been getting more and more attention. With the rise of quasi-autonomous AI, graph-based representations provide a vehicle for making machine cognition explicit to human users. ICCS 2023 will take place in Berlin, Germany, in September 2023. Scholars, students and industry participants from different disciplines will meet for several weeks of conferences, workshops, summer schools, and public events to engage with the broad topics, issues and challenges related to knowledge in the 21st century. Submissions are invited on significant, original, and previously unpublished research on the formal analysis and representation of conceptual knowledge in artificial intelligence (AI). All papers will receive mindful and rigorous reviews that will provide authors with useful critical feedback. The aim of the ICCS 2023 conference is to build upon its long-standing expertise in graph-based KRR and focus on providing modelling, formal and application results of graph-based systems. Workshops and tutorials provide an opportunity to discuss novel topics in an interactive atmosphere. They can concentrate in-depth on research topics, but can also be devoted to application issues. ******************* Duration and Format ******************* We welcome both full- and half-day workshop/tutorial proposals and encourage a program that is both varied and interesting. We specifically encourage innovative formats for workshops that go beyond traditional paper presentations, for example, including a challenge for participants to solve, or jointly working on a specific problem or document at the venue. Dear SIPTiAns and IP enthusiasts, We are delighted to announce our sixth SIPTA online seminar on imprecise probabilities (IP), and the first of this new year. These monthly events are open to anyone interested in IP, and will be followed by a Q&A and open discussion. They also provide an occasion for the community to meet, keep in touch and exchange between in-person events. The sixth seminar will take place on the 13th of January (Friday), at 3pm Paris Time. For this, we are very happy to have three different speakers that will each give their view on the topic of Engineering in IP (during a 1 hour talk in total). We are very happy to have as our speakers Alice Cicirello, the founder and the Head of the Data, Vibration and Uncertainty Group at Tu Delft, Matthias Faes, Chair for Reliability Engineering at TU Dortmund, and Edoardo Pattelli, Professor in Risk and Uncertainty Quantification and the Head of the Centre for Intelligent Infrastructure at the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, at Strathclyde University. All of them have made impressive contributions as to how one can deal with imprecision and uncertainty in various engineering problems, with a very rich expertise in both theoretical and applied problems. Special Issue of a Springer journal "Archive of Applied Mechanics" on Numerical analysis and design of structures including polymorphic uncertain data edited by Michael Kaliske, Technische Universitaet Dresden, Germany Vladik Kreinovich, The University of Texas at El Paso, USA Numerical simulation of structures is currently often characterized by deterministic methods. Deterministic models of the reality indicate preciseness and safety, while, on contrary all available data and information are characterized by various types of uncertainty (variability, imprecision, incompleteness), which cannot be neglected. Polymorphic uncertainty comprehends all of these types of uncertainty and their combinations. The main focus of the special issue is the presentation of methods for the numerical analysis and design of structures under consideration of polymorphic data uncertainty. Engineering solutions are characterized by inherent robustness and flexibility as essential features for a faultless life of structures under uncertain and changing conditions. Implementing these features in a system requires comprehensive consideration of uncertainty in the model parameters, in environmental and human imposed loads as well as other types of intrinsic and epistemic uncertainties. Numerical design of structures should be robust with respect to (spatial and time dependent) uncertainties inherently present in material characteristics, boundary conditions etc. This requires in turn a reliable numerical analysis, assessment and prediction of the lifecycle of structures, taking explicitly into account the effect of unavoidable uncertainties (limited or dubious information, human factors, subjectivity and experience, linguistic assessment, imprecise measurement, unclear physics etc.). Recent developments of numerical methods in the field of "real world" engineering problems, which include a comprehensive consideration of uncertainty and associated efficient analysis techniques are requested. Contributions regarding respective advanced methods, such as stochastic analysis, interval analysis, fuzzy analysis, polymorphic uncertainty quantification, surrogate modeling, multi-fidelity simulation and high performance computing are explicitly invited. a short update on isipta'2023

Dear fellow Siptians, While we will be sending more detailed information after the holidays, I'd like to give a small update on the organisation of the upcoming ISIPTA. Further details can be found at our website https://isipta23.sipta.org/. You may also check our twitter @isipta2023 for regular updates. A few key points: -Our plenary speakers shall be Gert de Cooman (Ghent University), Marta Kwiatkowska (University of Oxford) and Michel Grabisch (University Paris I). -We shall also make a hommage to the late Terry Fine. -There shall be a poster award and an IJAR young researcher award. The award committees are Ruobin Gong, Alexander Erreygers, Davide Petturiti and Raul Pérez-Fernández (poster award) and Inés Couso, Denis Mauá and Paolo Vicig (IJAR award). Further details shall be given around February. -There will be 4 fellowships to support the attendance of young students, funded by Artificial Intelligence. Details will be given after acceptance of papers/poster abstracts. -The deadline for abstract submission is January 29 and of paper submission, February 5.
