Many algorithms developed in one research area are applicable to other problems, or can be hybridized with techniques in other areas. Artificial Intelligence tools often exploit or hybridize techniques developed by other research communities, such as Operations Research. In recent years, research in Artificial Intelligence has more and more focused on experimental evaluation of algorithms, the development of suitable methodologies for experimentation and analysis, the study of languages and the implementation of systems for the definition and solution of problems. Scope of the workshop is fostering the cross-fertilization of ideas stemming from different areas, proposing benchmarks for new challenging problems, comparing models and algorithms from an experimental viewpoint, and, in general, comparing different approaches with respect to efficiency, problem modeling, and ease of development. ISWC is a major international forum for presenting visionary research on all aspects of the Semantic Web. The Uncertainty Reasoning workshop is an exciting opportunity for collaboration and cross-fertilization between the uncertainty reasoning community and the Semantic Web / Linked Data community. Effective methods for reasoning under uncertainty are vital for realizing many aspects of the Semantic Web vision, but the ability of current-generation web technology to handle uncertainty remains extremely limited. Each submission will be evaluated for acceptability by at least three members of the Program Committee. Decisions about acceptance will be based on relevance to the above topic list, originality, potential significance, topicality and clarity. Since all accepted papers will be presented at the workshop, we require that at least one of the submitting authors must be a registered participant at the ISWC 2016 Conference, and committed to attend the URSW Workshop. ==Call for Papers PGM 2016 is the eight edition of the International Conference on Probabilistic Graphical Models. It will take place in Lugano (Switzerland) between the 6th and the 9th of September 2016. The site of the conference is http://pgm.idsia.ch. It welcomes contributions on all aspects of graphical models including probabilistic reasoning, decision making, learning and data mining. It welcomes both theoretical and applied contributions. He is Chair of the Objective Bayes Section of the International Society for Bayesian Analysis (ISBA). Prof. Consonni will give a talk titled "Bayesian Selection of Essential Graphical Models". Fabio G. Cozman is Professor at Universidade de São Paulo, Brazil. He works with probabilistic reasoning and machine learning, with a special interest in formalisms that extend probability theory. He has served, among other activities, as Program and General Chair of the Conf. on Uncertainty in Artificial Intelligence, Area Chair (Machine Learning track) of the Int. Joint Conf. on Artificial Intelligence, and as member of the Editorial Board of the Artificial Intelligence Journal, as well as Associate Editor of the Journal of Artificial Intelligence Research and of the Journal of Approximate Reasoning. Prof. Cozman will give a talk titled "The Finite Model Theory of Bayesian Networks: An Invitation". Adnan Darwiche is Professor and former Chairman of the Computer Science Department at UCLA. His research focuses on the theory and practice of symbolic and probabilistic reasoning, with recent applications to machine learning. He served as editor-in-chief of the Journal of Artificial Intelligence Research (JAIR) and is an AAAI fellow. He is also author of "Modeling and Reasoning with Bayesian Networks", published by Cambridge University Press in 2009. Prof. Darwiche will give a talk titled "Learning Arithmetic Circuits with Background Knowledge". ==Tutorials We will have two tutorials. The Society for Imprecise Probability: Theories and Applications (SIPTA) organizes the 7th edition of its school in Durham, UK, during Aug 29 - Sep 2 2016. The school will be held at the Department of Mathematical Sciences, Durham University, close to the city centre of Durham. The aim of the SIPTA schools is to introduce interested students and researchers to the basics of imprecise probability topics, both theoretical and applied. Some of the best specialists in different aspects of imprecise probabilities lecture, during one week, on the main concepts and techniques in their area of expertise, in a friendly environment favouring interactions between participants. The topics covered this year will provide a general introduction to the latest developments in imprecise probability theory. There will also be a focus on applications of imprecise probabilities in risk analysis in engineering and environmental systems. Students will learn how to deal with situations where information is scarce, vague, or conflicting, and when a unique probability distribution may be hard to identify, from mathematical modelling to statistical inference and practical decision making. A basic understanding of probability and calculus are required (first year university level). A knowledge of Bayesian statistics is an advantage but is not required. The last day of the school overlaps with the WPMSIIP workshop, and will give all participants the possibility to present their work in a seminar, with discussion time. We plan for several leading researchers to be present for the discussions, and we also expect that some of the topics the students work on will be of further interest to the WPMSIIP workshop. The Society for Imprecise Probability: Theories and Applications (SIPTA) organizes the 7th edition of its school in Durham, UK, during Aug 29 - Sep 2 2016. The school will be held at the Department of Mathematical Sciences, Durham University, close to the city centre of Durham. The aim of the SIPTA schools is to introduce interested students and researchers to the basics of imprecise probability topics, both theoretical and applied. Some of the best specialists in different aspects of imprecise probabilities lecture, during one week, on the main concepts and techniques in their area of expertise, in a friendly environment favouring interactions between participants. The topics covered this year will provide a general introduction to the latest developments in imprecise probability theory. There will also be a focus on applications of imprecise probabilities in risk analysis in engineering and environmental systems. Students will learn how to deal with situations where information is scarce, vague, or conflicting, and when a unique probability distribution may be hard to identify, from mathematical modelling to statistical inference and practical decision making. A basic understanding of probability and calculus are required (first year university level). A knowledge of Bayesian statistics is an advantage but is not required. He is Chair of the Objective Bayes Section of the International Society for Bayesian Analysis (ISBA). Fabio G. Cozman is Professor at Universidade de São Paulo, Brazil. Dear Friends, Today is the last day of the 9th International Conference of Thailand Econometric Society TES'2016. This conference was a big success, with a Nobelist Robert Engle giving the keynote talk. Next year's conference will be held in Chiang Mai, Thailand, January 11-13, 2017. Its main theme is robustness in econometrics. The main idea that we have only an approximate information about the corresponding probability distributions and about the values of the corresponding parameters. So, it is desirable to develop data processing, data analysis, and prediction techniques which are robust, i.e., in some reasonable sense, applicable not just to the nominal distributions and values, but also to possible deviations from these nominal values. This seems to be a perfect setting for imprecise probability techniques. Mark your calendars. P.S. As in the previous years, accepted papers will be published in an edited volume published by Springer-Verlag as part of the book series "Advances in Intelligent Systems and Computing". P.P.S. Chiang Mai is a city in mountainous northern Thailand that dates back to the 1200s. Its Old City area still retains vestiges of walls and moats from its history as a cultural and religious center. It’s also home to hundreds of elaborate temples, including 14th-century Wat Phra Singh and 15th-century Wat Chedi Luang, adorned with carved serpents.
