Workshops will be held virtually on July 30th following the main conference. Each workshop will be allocated half a day, starting at 6am or 6pm US Pacific Time. The goal of the workshops is to provide an informal forum for research topics that are relevant to the UAI community, with emphasis on the discussion of open problems and challenges. Workshop organisers will be in charge of arranging participation, content, and moderation of the workshops. Requirements A significant portion of the workshops should be dedicated to contributed content. Workshop organisers can decide whether contributions will consist of full papers or (extended) abstracts. We encourage workshop organisers to consider diversity aspects when creating the lists of invited speakers and panellists. In particular, we welcome the inclusion of early-career researchers. In addition to the aspects above, proposals will be evaluated based on the following criteria: • Relevance to the UAI audience • Potential impact • Quality & clarity of the proposal • Organisers' relevant expertise The workshops should comply with the following requirements • Call for papers/abstracts: Before April 15th • Paper/abstract submission deadline: Between May 15th and May 31st • Paper/abstract notification: Before June 30th Submission Instructions Important dates: • Submission deadline: March 8, 2021, 23:59 UTC (this is a strict deadline) • Notification: April 2, 2021 Proposals should be in single column A4 or letter .pdf format, with font size 11 or greater, and no longer than two pages (excluding organisers’ details and bibliographic references). *** Apologies for multiple postings *** [UR @ FLAIRS 34] LAST CALL FOR PAPERS Special Track on Uncertain Reasoning at the 34th Florida Artificial Intelligence Research Society Conference (FLAIRS-34) May 16-19, 2021 - North Miami Beach, Florida (US) FLAIRS 34 will have a safe physical conference to the extent possible, and provide an option for online presentation for those who cannot attend the physical conference. The objective of this track is to present and discuss a broad and diverse range of current work on uncertain reasoning, including theoretical and applied research based on different paradigms. We hope that the variety and richness of this track will help to promote cross fertilisation among the different approaches for uncertain reasoning, and in this way foster the development of new ideas and paradigms. The Special Track on Uncertain Reasoning (UR) is the oldest track in FLAIRS conferences, running annually since 1996. The UR '21 Special Track at the 34th International Florida Artificial Intelligence Research Society Conference (FLAIRS-34) is the 26th in the series. Like the past tracks, UR'21 seeks to bring together researchers working on broad issues related to reasoning under uncertainty. Papers on all aspects of uncertain reasoning are invited. Papers of particular interest include, but are not limited to: - Uncertain reasoning formalisms, calculi and methodologies - Reasoning with probability, possibility, fuzzy logic, belief function, vagueness, granularity, rough sets, and probability logics - Modelling and reasoning using imprecise and indeterminate information, such as: Choquet capacities, comparative orderings, convex sets of measures, and interval-valued probabilities - Exact, approximate and qualitative uncertain reasoning - Inference and learning with graphical models of uncertainty (e.g., Bayesian networks) - Multi-agent uncertain reasoning and decision making - Decision-theoretic planning and Markov decision process - Temporal reasoning and uncertainty; non-monotonic reasoning; similarity-based reasoning - Conditional logics, description logic, logic programming - Argumentation - Belief change and merging - Construction of models from elicitation, data mining and knowledge discovery - Uncertain reasoning in information retrieval, filtering, fusion, diagnosis, prediction, situation assessment - Uncertain reasoning in data management - Practical applications of uncertain reasoning (e.g., machine learning, computer vision and animation) All accepted papers will be published as FLAIRS proceedings by AAAI Press. The papers should be original work (i.e., not submitted, in submission, or submitted to another conference while in review). Papers should not exceed 6 pages (4 pages for a poster) and are due by February 16, 2021. For FLAIRS-34, the 2021 conference, the reviewing is a double-blind process. Author names and affiliations must be omitted on submitted papers to provide double-blind reviewing. The papers will be reviewed by at least three reviewers. Papers must be submitted as PDF through the EasyChair conference system, which can also be accessed through the main conference web site. There are two kinds of submissions: full paper (up to 6 pages) to be presented by the author in a 20 minute oral presentation; short paper (up to 4 pages) to be presented in a poster session. Authors should indicate the special track "Uncertain Reasoning" for submissions. The proceedings of FLAIRS-34 will be published by the AAAI. Authors of accepted papers will be required to sign a form transferring copyright of their contribution to AAAI. At least one author of each accepted paper is required to register, attend, and present the paper at FLAIRS-34.
