Dear fellow Imprecisionists, We are organising a mini-symposium on `Imprecise Probability in Reliability' at the joint meeting: Second International Conference on Vulnerability and Risk Analysis and Management (ICVRAM2014) & Sixth International Symposium on Uncertainty Modelling and Analysis (ISUMA2014) at Liverpool University, on 13-16 July 2014. The workshop location is the Carl Friedrich von Siemens Stiftung, which is located at the Nymphenburg Palace in Munich. The workshop is financially supported by the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation and hosted by the Munich Center for Mathematical Philosophy. Progic 2013 focuses on "Combining probability and logic to solve philosophical problems". The theory of belief functions also referred to as evidence theory or Dempster-Shafer theory, was first introduced by Arthur P. Dempster in the context of statistical inference, and was later developed by Glenn Shafer as a general framework for modeling epistemic uncertainty. These early contributions have been the starting points of many important developments, including the Transferable Belief Model and the Theory of Hints. The theory of belief functions is now well established as a general framework for reasoning with uncertainty, and has well understood connections to other frameworks such as probability, possibility and imprecise probability theories. This theoretical framework has a broad field of application, including information fusion, pattern recognition, auditing, etc. The second BFAS spring school will take place at IHEC in the historical and magnificent city of Carthage in Tunisia. The aim of this spring school is to promote this theory and to introduce interested students and researchers to the basics of belief functions, both theoretical and applied. The school is organized into several lectures given by international experts. They will bring both theoretical and practical backgrounds, in a friendly environment favoring interaction between participants. ADT seeks to bring together researchers and practitioners coming from diverse areas such as Artificial Intelligence, Database Systems, Operations Research, Decision Theory, Discrete Mathematics, Game Theory, Multiagent systems, Computational Social Choice, and Theoretical Computer Science in order to improve the theory and practice of modern decision support and automation systems. The contemporary theory and practice of decision theory and decision analysis must account for the presence of massive databases containing data extracted from the web or via data mining, combinatorial structures, partial and/or uncertain information, and distributed, possibly interoperating decision makers, and the existence of masses of potential users on the web. Such problems arise in various real-world decision making problems such as electronic commerce, and recommender systems, network optimization (communication, transport, energy), risk assessment and management, e-government. ADT provides a multi-disciplinary forum for sharing knowledge in this area with a special focus on algorithmic issues in Decision Theory. The two first International Conference on Algorithmic Decision Theory (ADT 2009, 2011) brought together researchers and practitioners from diverse areas of computer science, economics, and operations research from around the globe, with proceedings published in LNAI 5783 and LNAI 6992.
