Call for participation: Deep Learning and Representation Learning Workshop http://www.dlworkshop.org/ Friday, December 12, 2014 Palais des Congrès de Montréal/Convention and Exhibition Center, Montreal, Canada Held in conjunction with Neural Information Processing Systems (NIPS) 2014. Please see the tentative schedule here: http://www.dlworkshop.org/schedule Scheduled location: Level 5; room 511 a,b, d,e ---- Deep Learning algorithms attempt to discover good representations, at multiple levels of abstraction. There has been rapid progress in this area in recent years, both in terms of algorithms and in terms of applications, but many challenges remain. The workshop aims at bringing together researchers in that field and discussing these challenges, brainstorming about new solutions. The workshop will present paper submissions in 2 poster sessions with several papers selected for oral presentation. Topics include: * deep learning algorithms and models (supervised or unsupervised, including about building blocks of deep nets, like RBMs and auto-encoders, etc.) * inference and optimization algorithms * semi-supervised, transfer learning, and multi-modal algorithms * theoretical foundations of deep learning (both supervised and unsupervised) * applications of deep learning (convolutional networks, word and sentence representation models, etc.) Through invited talks and presentations by the participants, this workshop will showcase the latest advances in deep learning and address questions that are at the center of current deep learning research. The article "Symmetric coherent upper conditional prevision defined by the Choquet integral with respect to Hausdorff outer measure" has just been published and is available as 'Online First' on SpringerLink: http://link.springer.com/article/10.1007/s10479-014-1752-x Abstract In a metric space symmetric fuzzy measures defined on the class of all subsets are introduced. Coherent upper conditional probabilities defined by Hausdorff outer measures are symmetric and distorted coherent upper con- ditional probabilities defined by Hausdorff outer measures with concave dis- tortion are proven to be symmetric. Null events and symmetric events with respect to coherent upper conditional probabilities defined by Hausdorff outer measures are characterized. Coherent upper conditional prevision defined as Choquet integral with respect to Hausdorff outer measure is symmetric be- cause it is invariant with respect to equimeasurable random variables. *** apologies for cross-posting *** ====================================================================== ECSQARU 2015 CALL for Special Sessions Thirteenth European Conference on Symbolic and Quantitative Approaches to Reasoning with Uncertainty Proposal Deadline: 1st December Dates: July 15th-17th, 2015 Location: Compiègne, France ====================================================================== We invite proposals of special sessions for the next ECSQARU 2015, to be held during the conference. These special sessions can aim at fundamental, theoretical or practical issues regarding reasoning under uncertainty, in symbolic and quantitative settings. INSTRUCTIONS Submission of proposals should include: * the session title, * a short description of the session and its main topics, * the session relevance to the ECSQARU conference, * a list of organizers (at least 2), * a list of potential submissions (if possible). Each special session should contain at least four papers. Those having fewer than four accepted papers will potentially be canceled, with accepted papers moved either to regular sessions or, if appropriate, to related special sessions. The upper limit for papers authored by each organizer will be 25% (rounded up) of the overall number of accepted papers in the session. Proposals should be sent to ecsqaru2015(a)hds.utc.fr before the 1st December 2014 EVALUATION OF PROPOSALS Special session proposals will be evaluated based on the timeliness, uniqueness of the topic and qualifications of the proposers. The proposers are expected to have a PhD degree and have a good publication track record in the proposed area. After review, a decision on whether the proposal will be accepted will be sent to the proposers. However, it is possible that an accepted proposal will be combined with another one to avoid multiple special sessions covering a similar topic. Accepted special sessions will be listed on the conference website. A final decision will be made two weeks after the submission deadline. SUBMISSION AND REVIEWS FOR SPECIAL SESSION PAPERS Manuscripts intended for special sessions should be submitted through the general paper submission website as regular submissions. During submission, authors submitting to special sessions should check the corresponding category. Papers submitted to special sessions will undergo the same review and decision process as regular papers. Organizers will be consulted to propose potential reviewers. IMPORTANT DATES Special sessions proposals should be submitted before the 1st december 2014. Submission and decision dates are the same as regular submissions.
