We welcome both theoretical and applied original contributions. In this edition, we especially welcome papers connecting imprecise probabilities with related research in fields such as economics, philosophy, sociology, and engineering. There will be no parallel sessions. Each paper that is accepted is presented both (i) in a plenary session, meant for a short introduction and a sketch of the context and relevance; and (ii) in a poster session, where ample time is given for in-depth explanation and discussion. The poster-only track provides a second, free format presentation option. It is also open for preliminary results, challenges, etc. *New: non-proceedings papers* To adapt to different publication cultures in different fields, we introduce a new option: the non-proceeding papers. Authors may request that their contribution is not published in the proceedings in case this precludes later publication of an expanded journal version. The PC Board will decide on a case-by-case basis. The session is organized by Dr Ullrika Sahlin Lund University, Dr John Paul Gosling University of Leeds and Dr Kevin Wilson University of Strathclyde who can provide further information. This special session aims to give a broad overview of applications of Bayesian modelling to handle knowledge-based uncertainty in assessments and decision making. We welcome both applied and conceptual contributions in dealing with knowledge-based uncertainty using a Bayesian framework. For example, contributions are sought on the applications and theoretical considerations of expert elicitation, characterising uncertainty in model parameters and structure, learning strategies and evidence synthesis. The deadline for submitting a 400-word abstract is January 31st. Besides hosting some state-of-the art applications of info-gap theory in assessments the aims of this session are to 1) Demonstrate the potential of using info-gap theory to deal with weaknesses in underlying information or uncertainty arising from making severe extrapolations. 2) Discuss basic concepts behind info-gap theory and how these relate to concepts of risk, uncertainty and decision theory. 3) Encourage novel applications of info-gap theory to treat and communicate epistemic uncertainty in the space between uncertainty quantified by knowledge-based Bayesian probabilities and uncertainty quantified by non-probabilistic measures. The tutorials will be held at the 31st Conference on Uncertainty in Artificial Intelligence, on July 12, 2015 in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. http://auai.org/uai2015/tutorials.shtml We seek proposals for tutorials on core areas that enjoy broad interest within the UAI community. We are interested in tutorials on established as well as emerging research topics within the field itself, but we also welcome tutorials from related research fields or application areas (e.g., computer vision, natural language processing, etc.). Important dates --------------- Wednesday, March 10, 2015: Tutorial proposals due. Wednesday, April 15, 2015: Acceptance notification. Sunday, July 12, 2015: Tutorials date. How to Propose a Tutorial ------------------------- Proposals are expected to have an overall length of 2 to 3 pages. They should provide sufficient information to evaluate the quality and importance of the topic, the likely quality of the presentation materials, and the speakers' teaching ability. Tutorials may be taught by more than one person to provide a richer, more balanced coverage of an area. When proposing a tutorial, please include the following sections: ** Topic overview -- What will the tutorial be about? Why do you believe this is an interesting and significant subject for the UAI community? ** Target audience -- From which areas do you expect potential participants to come? What prior knowledge, if any, do you expect from the audience? What will the participants learn? How many participants do you expect? ** Tutorial length -- previous years, tutorials were limited to a total length of two hours. If you would like to spend more (or less) time than this, please indicate and motivate your preferred tutorial length. ** Content details -- Provide a detailed outline of the topics to be presented, including estimates for the time that will be devoted to each subject. If possible, provide samples of past tutorial slides or teaching materials. In case of multiple presenters, specify how you will distribute the work. ** Format -- How will you present the material? A full-time PhD Scholarship on Regression with Interval Data is available at the University of Hull, Department of Physics and Mathematics. Regression is one of the main methods of statistical analysis, widely used in all application fields. However, data are often not of the quality required in order to perform standard regression analyses. In particular, data are often interval-censored, meaning that data values are not known exactly, but only known to lie in particular intervals. The goal of the PhD project is to develop a well-founded general approach to regression with interval-censored data. The closing date for applications is 2 February 2015.
